Stuffed Cats Moves Up and Strangelove v2.0 Returns

The .56 becomes the .199 and you can "Ride the Rocket" again... A Visual Traceroute to the .199 server... As may be seen in the snap of the Visual Traceroute above, the new path to the UT99 server from off-campus is as clean as a whistle. Most players should now experience zero packet loss on our network. It is possible that some of you, like Woof at his L.A. hop, will have some loss between your machine and the server. It should not under any circumstances, however, reach levels of 30% to 40% as it was prior to moving the machine. If you're looking for players on the box, the students begin to populate the machine at around 8:15AM CST and usually, by Noon, there are 12 to 14 people in the game. The Student Union stays open until around 8:00PM CST and there will be at least a few students playing until they kick them out and lock the doors. And remember the complete new IP address is: 129.113.1.199 [DC] Puma rides the rocket again... The Strangelove Mod v2.0 will be running as an active mod on the Stuffed Cats Inc. Server from now on. It may be turned off once in a while when appropriate, but the new version is pretty much bug-free and adds a whole new dimension to the game once you learn to use all of the features. The changes since v1.0 are far too complex and numerous to list here. In order to give everyone a fair shot at using the mod, I've placed two links below which will take you directly to the Strangelove v 2.0 Operation Manual and the Strangelove v2.0 Readme File. The only item that's really likely to catch your attention that will not be available tonight is the "Yellow Jacket" weapon. These are meant as replacements for the standard UT Enforcers. Unfortunately, they proved to be buggy on our server when activated. I just cannot over-emphasize the importance of reading the docs on this mod. The Strangelove Device may be used like any standard Redeemer, but it can also do a whole lot more as well. With this updated version you can carry a passenger and use your weapons while flying the rocket. One very important thing to know is that unlike v1.0, the new Strangelove has a fuel gauge and a limited range. On all maps, the UT Health Vials will be replaced by Strangelove Device Fuel Cells. You may pick them up before you launch the rocket, or in the case of an open map like CTF-Freaks Come Out at Night, you may fly through the Cells to make a pick-up. The new Strangelove also has an Afterburner function, but you better be prepared to hang on if you use it! The First Dead Cat DVD Arrives!

The DC vs. The UTPA Student Team viewable on your home TV... Cover shows the poster and team rosters... Even a custom disc label...Woo Hoo!... The UTPA Student Team versus the Dead Cats CTF match held October 6, 2005 at 5:00pm in the Student Union is now preserved in DVD format. The DVD contains all three games of the match. Each is accessible from a single main menu that will load when the disc is inserted in a set-top player. Clicking on the full-motion menu for a specific game will start the playback. When the match ends, the DVD will return to the main menu. The files containing the entire DVD plus all of the graphics for the cover insert and the disc label are linked below. UTPA Student Team Tops the Dead Cats in the Tie-Breaker

The Dead Cats blow it on Acid Pipe!!! It all came down to Aggressive Alley... The UTPA Student Team took the Dead Cats in a three game CTF match on October 6, 2005 at 5:00pm in the Student Union. The Student Team definitely gets "The Most Improved" award in my book. They have come so far in the very few months that most of them have been playing, it is simply incredible. The Dead Cats were uncharacteristically out of form, but that is not an excuse. The Student Team was terrific in every respect! The first game on the Dead Cats' trademark level, CTF-Acid Pipe, was a stunner with the home team losing to the visitors 4 to 3. The Dead Cats did come back in game two on CTF-Bridge-XL with a 7 to 4 win. The tie-breaker game, played on CTF-Aggressive Alley, went to the Student Team with a clean 6 to 3 victory. The Flag capture total worked out to 14 caps for the Student Team and 13 caps for the Dead Cats clearly demonstrating the close level of competition seen throughout the match.
